Full course description
Instuctor: Perrin Kerns
The lyric essay is a form in which many small fragments are drawn together to create a whole; call it a collage, a mosaic, or a quilt. A lyric essay might hold memories, research, a bit of poetry; it celebrates mixing genres and breaking genres. It is political in its very form. In this two-day generative writing workshop we will write together to prompts, creating a series of fragments and then stitching them together into short essays. The goal for each student is to have a rough draft of a lyric essay by the end of the class. (18 hours / All Levels)
This weekend class will meet Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 10 am until 4 pm ET.
